Chris Topple – a little about me

I first fell in love with the drums back in the late sixties and after months of tapping and banging on furniture and saucepans I was thrilled to discover that Santa had managed to get a drum kit down the chimney!

I quickly became obsessed with listening to and watching as many drummers as I possibly could and trying to copy their styles and technique. It was vinyl records and no DVD or You Tube back then so I watched and listened carefully and if it was Top of the Pops on television they were miming anyway!

My enthusiasm and passion grew rapidly and I eventually played my first gig at aged sixteen to an audience of a thousand and I now have over forty years of playing, gigging and recording experience.

Most of my experience was gained in function and covers bands in London and over the South East where I have been called upon to play a huge variety of styles of music at just about every type of venue and occasion.

I combined my drumming with a business career for many years but eventually decided to follow my lifelong passion and concentrate on playing and teaching the drums. I gained my early teaching experience by studying with and becoming an approved and certified teacher of the internationally recognised Drumsense learning programme.

I now feel like I have the best job in the world where I am lucky enough to do what I love whilst at the same time passing on my enthusiasm, knowledge and experience to my students to enable them to experience the joy of playing the drums.

My teaching within the SEN community has enabled me to become associated with the internationally acclaimed Drums & Disabilities (DAD) Program and a Certified DAD Program Therapist.

I teach in local schools and in my fully equipped home studio near Horsham.
I’m currently working with both The Jacquie Young Band and The Hobbes Hyldon Band but will always respond to the phone, text or email!
